Does the R47022 and R47042 use the Batch Processing Mode = I to inhibit writing to EDI tables

When producing an EDI Order Acknowledgement or an EDI Invoice records a written to the related EDI tables even customers Batch Processing Mode is set to = I  to inhibit writing to EDI tables

is this correct or should the process only work were the  Batch Processing Mode = P
