Clear balances on account that was changed to a parent account

Hi Experts!

Have encountered an issue where an upload of balances were done to a GL string which had natural account initially as a child account. This account was then changed to a parent account. Now users need to change this GL string  balances to another (child account). They are unable to do this. Can you assist?
