FastFormula Input Replacement for BEN_ASG_IN_EMPLOYMENT_CATEGORY

We have a Person Change Causes Life Event formula that uses the inputs BEN_ASG_IN_EMPLOYMENT_CATEGORY and BEN_ASG_IO_EMPLOYMENT_CATEGORY. The rule was written in 2008 in a previous version of e-Business. We're using 12.2.4, now. Should we be using a different database item in the formula, now that we're on a newer version? I recently found an MOS document referencing the input item, but am not sure if the recommended patch, or using an updated item, would be better.
