use of RMAN Low compression in Exadata to ZFS backups

Hi there,

I'm curious to know if other users backing up Exadata with ZFS Storage Appliance (over 10GigE) are using any compression on the Exadata side.  It has been my understanding that Oracle Best Practices suggest that RMAN compression should be turned off on the Exadata side and that compression is turned on the for the ZFS side.  We are currently using LZJB on the ZFS.

One of our DBA's has conducted some backup tests, level-0 backups of approximately 100TB across 8 channels.  With no RMAN compression and ZFS compression set to LZJB we're seeing backup times of 7.5 hours up to 10 hours.  Doing the same backup with RMAN compression set to low and still using ZFS compression set to LZJB, we've seen a backup time of 2.25 hours.
