Can items be added to IB via Service or Depot without creating a warranty

If we are forced to add an item to our IB via the service request or depot forms, these items were sold prior to 1998, yet because they are new instances, the system is adding a warranty.  Can this be changed, so that additons from these interfaces do not automatically create an OEM warranty?
