Use of Transmission Format in AutoLockbox

Hi,

Can anyone explain me the use of transmission format in autolockbox? I mean while importing into AR_PAYMENTS_INTERFACE_ALL we are using a control file. So why do we still need the transmission format to explicitly state which field means what in the file? The control file has already taken care of that and imported the data in the interface table.
