Does anyone have a tool they use to add data to the Mass Additions queue in large volumnes?

I am looking for a tool that my business can use to add all the necessary data in the Mass Additions queue without manuall typing it in the forms.  Is anyone aware of a tool that can do this.  I shy away from dataloader as you need to baby sit this.  Does anyone do direct updates the tables?
