Approval limit is necessary for delegated party under vacation rule?

Dear All,

Under R11i, PO module, we have PR approval hierarchy & PO approval hierarchy, there is a requirement that a PO approver needs to delegate the PO approval to a PR approver, i have the following questions:-

By vacation rule

- if the PR approver does not exist in PO hierarchy (only in PR hierarchy), is it possible to choose the party during vacation rule setup process?

- is it a must to set the PR approver with PO approval limit to approve PO? how about the result if no approval limit is set?

Any other approach like grant access or action by approve and forward by previous approver, what are the pros and cons?
