First Distribution Identifier

Hi. Can anyone explain to me the significance of 'First Distribution Identifier'? I am creating a setup for FAH (Financials Accounting Hub) and when I reached the Accounting Attribute Assignments window, it says that a default value must be set for First Distribution Identifier. What does it do?
