Why is the Install Base interface trying to change the serial number?
An IB record exists for SN 5441446025 and part number 'X'. Its status was expired, since it had recently been received from an internal order shipment.
In December of 2014, we shipped the item to a customer. That shipment has not yet appeared in the Install Base transactions, so I queried up the order in the Transaction Error Summary and Details screen. The error message says:
Serial Number is being updated to 5441446025. This may have an impact in all upstream applications where the old Serial Number is referenced. Please update the references to point to the new Serial Number. Passed Serial Number (5441446025) violates uniqueness with in Inventory items.
