Using Kerberos/Active Directory for ZFS Appliance user authentication

edited Sep 16, 2015 2:38PM in Disk Storage ZFS Storage Appliance (MOSC) Question

Hi there,

I currently have about 20 ZFS platforms and maybe 12-15 users who act as administrators.  These user all have locally defined users on each ZFS appliance.  As a result I have no control over passwords in terms of complexity, frequency of change etc...

I have been told that I can keep my locally defined users, create a dummy or really hard/] to guess or long password, and then authenticate the user with Kerberos/Active Directory.

I just want to be able to authenticate users.  Their roles will be defined on the appliance, so I do not need to do any authorization.

Howdy, Stranger!
