Disable asset revaluation feature in FA Book Controls

My customer does not want to use asset revaluation feature in Release 12.2.3.

Hence, the checkbox 'Allow Revaluations' is unchecked in FA Book Controls.  However, I observe that the 'Revaluation Reserve' field is mandatory while creating an asset category.  How to make this field optional? Also, can the revaluation feature be turned on at a later date.

Request any pointers.
