Essbase Studio resets database buffer size and cache settings

I am new to working with Essbase Studio but have noticed it seems every time I do a cube deployment, the database's buffer sizing and cache settings are reset back to defaults.  Is there a work-around for this?  This will make things challenging when trying to build some of our bigger cubes.  Thanks
