samcmd audit -e / auditslot -e doesn't work correctly

Hi SAM/OHSM crew.

Hope everyone is well.

For as long as I can remember, there was some functionality inside StorageTek SAM that did an EOD/EOV seek on tape media and would update the media utilisation once it was finished.

This could be issued as:

auditslot eq:slot

Or

samcmd audit –e eq:slot

I’ve now tried it on a piece of tape media that is incorrectly reporting 0% capacity utilisation (not an uncommon problem on a crash I suppose, or a situation where media utilisation statistics are lost) and all it seems to do is seek for a few mins and then flag the media “E” in error state.
