GUI (monitor and trace) show 483's to session agents at the end of every call.
When looking at calls in the Monitor and Trace section of the gui, every completed call state is "failed-483". Although the calls are actually routing fine and most should say "terminated", each ladder diagram will show 483 (too many hops) to each session agent, at the bottom of the diagram AFTER the call is done. The ladder diagram doesn't show the Cisco Call Manager sending a 101 Options ping, but we see it in the sipmsg.log.
