Streamlining Entry of Fixed Assets

Hi

I am interested in finding out what functionality is currently available for streamlining the entry of fixed assets. Currently, we enter assets manually using unposted lines entered in payables. As this is entirely manual is there any functionality that allows data entry to be at least partially automated? If no functionality currently exists, what process do we need to follow to flag this as a future improvement?
