Set a value to a control on applet in query mode

Hi All

I have a problem, I have a VBC that when you navigate to the view siebel load the applet with records get it from external db, this applet has a query mode that allows to make a new query setting some checkbox and dates. The problem is that when you try to setValue to a control on the applet in query mode (from Browser Script), an error ocurred : This operation is not allowed when doesn´t have any records.

I already know that I don´t have any records , is for that reason I´m trying to do a query.
