Validating Siebel Audit Trail configuration

Hi,

     has anyone deviced an easy  method to validate the Audit Trail configuration?

Problem is that developers don't always remember to update the audit trail after inactivating a BC field. And when moving the config from dev to test the ADM import fails when trying to add auditing for inactive field. This seems to cause unnecessary amount of manual work for me. Obviously yelling at developers isn't the optimal solution to problem...
