Historical Funding Patterns and Distribution Values in GMS

I am creating a report to identify transactions and their original funding pattern IDs and distribution values.   I would like to capture the information from the GMS_DISTRIBUTION_DETAILS table.

In AP, when the user distributes the award, the transaction and the funding pattern ID is stored in the GMS_DISTRIBUTION_DETAILS table, but it is immediately deleted when another award is distributed.  It appears the "delete" is based on the GMS_AWARD_DIST_ENG. (Award Distribution functionality).  I am not too sure why.  Why? 

If they delete the transaction in the GMS_DISTRIBUTION_DETAILS table, I was hoping it is stored in the GMS_AWARD_DISTRIBUTIONS.
