Oracle Assets R12.1.3 - Corporate Book Controls

Setup>Asset System>Book Controls>Accounting Rules Tab: "Prevent Previous Period Amortized Changes"  Cannot find any reference to this option in Assets User Guide or My Oracle Support.
What does this setting control?
