Application has been affected due to RMAN Backup

Hi,

RMAN backup was impacting the  DB performance.

The job is executing from Tivoli tool scheduler.

RMAN process is running more then 5 hours which is unusual. The job is running more than 5 hours than usual.

The script will be running on the server where database for every 1 hour to check for any RMAN session connected to the database for more than 5 hours.

Though the sessions were killed they still exist in the DB. After killing all the OS processes, by using SPID in the DB and now the CPU utilization has come down.

Could you please provide me cause of the issue?
