Receipt Activity Accounting Conundrum

We have a situation where the same GL account is used for both Discounts and Write-Off Receivable Activities. However we only want the GL Balancing Segment changed on the Discounts, not the Write-offs. 

The profile option “AR: Disable Receivable Activity Balancing Segment Substitution” is all or none, and using 2 different responsibilities with a different profile option value will not fly.

Has anybody else had this problem?
