Database Backup and Recovery (MOSC)

create control file takes 20 minutes! Any ideas why it happened?

Hi,

I copy database to a new server using snapshot capabilities of the storage(Nimble storage.

Before the snap is taken , we put the database in backup mode  using alter database begin backup.

After the snap is completed , we mount the file system and startup the instance in no mount mode, and then create the control file from using create controlfile statement.

For some reason , one server it taked 21 seconds, while the other, it takes 20 minutes.

Please advise
