Data Guard with both Primary and Standby in same RAC Cluster?

After expanding an Exadata 1/4 Rack to 1/2 including a new Diskgroup, the customer came up with a plan to update the running DB from 11.2.0.4 to 12c, which includes a step of setting up Data Guard internally in the Cluster. The current DB runs on two nodes and won't get more instances, although the two new compute nodes were completely integrated in the RAC. The Standby would run on the new nodes and use the new Diskgroup (with different HDs), then after a planned switchover, replication would stop and the update to 12c would be the next step. Thus
