Migration of Shared Services database to different platform.

Is it possible to migrate the shared services and registry databases to a different platform?  For example moving from Oracle to Sql server or vice versa.? For example due to cost or other infrastructure or version issues.  Is it just reconfiguring the existing Essbase installations along with backing up and migrating the databases?  would it be different for the different versions ex 11.1.2.1 and 11.1.2.4
