EM 12c 12.1.0.4 agent registration password

Is there a way to test the agent registration password without potentially breaking the currently running agent?  No one seems to know the password, but I have an educated guess as to what it is.  I thought of securing the agent, but if I'm wrong I don't want to break the monitoring.
