Retrieve information from JDE data base using SMS

I would like to retrieve information from the data base using SMS(short message service). What are the components of the system ?

If the subject is broad, please give some keywords.

For example, using a registered mobile number, an employee can query his/her information. To know status of his/her appraisal, he/she can send an SMS to a predefined number and the system returns the result.
