Data / Redo application process on Physical Standby 11g R2

Hi
We have a question on the physical standby - 11g R2
Assuming that we have 11g R2 primary and physical standby
We have configured the redo transport to use LGWR SYNCH
Standby REDO logs are in place on standby
We are trying to understand how exactly the data is transferred and applied on the standby
Here is what we think happens but not sure and hence looking for some guidance
1. A transaction is committed on the primary
2. The REDO of that transaction will be shipped to standby using LNS process on the primary DB
3. The REDO would be received by RFS process on the standby
