Options to migrate custom Essbase security app

We are looking to migrate to EPM 11.1.2.4 and have a custom VB security app that updates Essbase users, filters, and groups, etc. along with some relational tables.  Since the VB API is no longer supported, what are the options to migrate? 

We could try shelling out to maxl from some type of vba front end  or I think there is a java api that may still include functionality like EsbSetFilter, EsbSetFilterRow, EsbSetGroupList?  Are there any other options?
