How can Revision of an Item Instance be updated from Install Base?

Hello,

Is there a way to update the revision of an item instance directly from Install Base? The Revision field in Install Base is currently not editable.

Field service engineers in our organization have the ability to update software (firmware) and hardware on devices that should be considered as revision update of the devices.

I was wondering if there was a way to update the revision without having to receive and issue the device in inventory?
