How accurate is Script to report the list of files stored in ASM and CURRENTLY NOT OPENED (Doc ID 55

Has anyone used this script recommended by Oracle to cleanup old un-used database files in ASM?

How accurate is the script in selecting files that no longer being used? I have some reservations because the files identified by the script showed a very current timestamp when executed ls -rtl.
