upgrade advice

I want to upgrade from 12.1.0.2.0 to 12.1.0.5.0, but I also need to move to a new machine get to a new OS level.  What is the best way to do this, do a fresh install of 12.1.0.,5 on the new host?  That seems like the right path, since I can take down the old agent on the target one by one and only have limited downtime for each target.
