Do we need to patch the database for PSU Oct 2015 if we are running Oracle's Grid Infrastructure wit

Our main concern is regarding CVE-2015-4863 (Portable clusterware). To my understanding Grid Infrastructure uses this. We use Grid Infrastructure only for the Oracle restart feature, and do not use it for any kind of clustering. Essentially a grid infrastructure for a standalone server. As we also do not use ASM, are our databases in requirement of this patch? What I've been able to investigate is that voting disks and other cluster oriented files can be stored there, the only link I could find between the databases and Grid infrastructure.
