The Lockbox has created a debit memo on the wrong customer account.

We have an issue The Lockbox has created a debit memo on the wrong customer account. The remittance clearly references a credit memo number for XYZ USA, but the debit was created on ABC Corp. is this standard can anyone provide a clue how to correct this?
