Internal mechanism of the optimizer

Hi All,

I read so many blogs about optimizer and no article is clear internal mechanism of the optimizer .

Can any one suggest me some good docs about optimizer , how it works when we fire a select query and how it will take the the execution plan.

I am eagerly waiting to learn about internal concepts of oracle like optimizer and execution plan, explain plan.
