Stocking Type M items and 850 SO Creation

In the FAQ for EDI 850s (Doc ID 1595999.1), I saw the following:

Kits and Configured ItemsQuestion 1: Can the EDI 850 Inbound processor (R47011) be used to create Sales Orders for Kits? 

Answer 1:  Yes. Kits are supported after the 8.10 release but not in releases prior to 8.10

Does this apply to stocking type M items, or just Stocking Type K?  We are on release 8.0 and want to create Stocking Type M SOs via EDI 850s (F47011).
