Fixed Assets - Revise Unposted Entries

If we have closed our year for fixed assets and ran all our reports, moved ahead to the next fiscal year and then tried to add an asset that was waiting to be added but with a GL date in the prior fiscal year, will that mess up our reports?  I know we need to roll our GL dates back so we can post that amount to the asset but if it's in the prior year will that show as an addition for the prior year or since i added it this year it'll show as an addition this year
