Moving to larger ASM disks

Hello,

We are running Oracle GI 11.2.0.2 on a 4-node cluster

We started originally with ASM disk of 70 GB. Now our DB has grown to 4TB and its getting very difficult to run such a large number of disks.

We are thinking of moving to 250 GB disks. As its not recommended to mix different disks in the same DG,we will probably have to create a new DG with larger disks

We also have Oracle DataGuard as a DR solution.

We see 2 options regarding the data:

  1. keep the existing DG and allocate new datafiles in the new DG
  2. move all the data to the new DG. this will require a long downtime (4 TB of data...)
