12.1.3 - Is there a way to mass cancel WF notifications for Contact Alert for failed auto renew?

2 part question

We are receiving a lot of WF Contract Alerts for failed auto renew, is there a way to mass cancel these notifications as they are not needed?

Also, how do we eliminate getting these notifications that don't mean anything other than telling us what we already know.  aka: Can't auto renew as it is terminated, in entered status and/or flagged to not auto renew.  Not even sure why it is trying to auto renew something that is not able to auto renew due to criteria and sending a notification about it to boot.

Ideas?
