Upgrade HFM to 11.1.2.4 Classic error unlocking and translating

I receive the same error message in two scenarios -

The error message is "A connection to the server has failed. (status=504).   Locks up IE session once the process finishes I can log back into system and the translation or unlock finished.

#1 Translating entities - In our application we translate our all our non EUR base entities to EUR.   After consolidation there are approx. 400 base entities that need to be translated

#2 Unlocking base entities - Also, we lock all base entities for ACTUAL and BUDGET scenario.  For various reasons we need to unlock them from time-to-time.  When I take small sample size to unlock of about 200 entities for 12 months, I get error
