E-Commerce

This might be the wrong group to ask??  We are a manufacturing company that has begun to provide electronic programs and drawings to customers thru email.  We want to have a sales order for these items in order to charge for the engineering time, but we don't want to impact inventory or the cardex, since we are not physically shipping anything. I was considering using non-stock items for this, but the system still considers these physical objects and hits the cardex.  I am not having much luck finding any Oracle documents.  There has to be some functionality for this?
