Has anyone tried patching the OEM REP database using OEM in a rolling fashion when the database is R

Can OEM actually patch itself in this scenario and not go down in the middle of patching?  It seems to do quite well when I manually roll the patch via OPATCH.  OEM never loses a beat.  It just flips over to the surviving instance while I patch the other and I never notice any problem with OEM.  This makes me wonder if it is possible to use the patching procedure in OEM to patch the OEM REP database itself without having any problems.
