Upgrading Primavera Contract Management from 14.0 to 14.2

I'm currently running PCM 14.0 on a Windows 2008 server. The Oracle database is on a separate windows 2008 server.

I'm having issues with emailing from PCM and have been told by support that the solution is to upgrade to 14.1. Since 14.2 is available it seems I should upgrade to 14.2.

I have a few questions:

1. Would it be better to go ahead and upgrade to 14.2?

2. Can 14.0 be directly upgraded to 14.2 or does the 14.1 upgrade have to be performed first?

3. PCM 14.0 is installed as a virtual machine on a VMware host. The Oracle database is on a physical machine. I can create a snapshot of the PCM 14.0 server prior to performing the upgrade and if something goes wrong I can easily revert back 14.0. However, I cannot do this with the database server. Once the database is converted for PCM14.2 will it no longer work with 14.0?

Howdy, Stranger!
