Segment source data for load by Period with Script?

Hello All,
I'm attempting to write a script that would look at the period that the user assigns in the data load rule and then have that value automatically assigned to a BefImport script that would select that Period's data from a SQL source? For ex. if the user selects Aug-2015 in the data load rule and executes the rule, the script would look at the SQL database with a full year's period information and only select the Aug-2015 data?
