Pre configured Items Catalogs and Categories

We are creating Pre-configured items(ITEM A). This pre-configured Item has ITEM B as Base Model. After configuring Item A, Category Sets are copied from base model (ITEM , but the category values do not match.

Whereas for a auto-created item , categories match with the base model.

I have looked into the CTO guide, and i could find only about attributes but i could not find anything about ICC's, Catagories.

We have a requirement where we need to copy the attribute values of the Base model to the Pre-configured item and Auto-created item. Is this possible?
