EAM and WMS (Reserving future dated material)

We are implementing eAM and currently use WMS for inventory. Currently, if you order material for a future date in eAM it automatically reserves the material and disregards the future day.  We have been told this is standard functionality how can we set this up to reserve based upon the parameters we have set up in inventory without customization? Can we utilize pick rules for this?  The current parameter is not to reserve the material until 30 days before it is needed. We are currently on 12.1.3.  We are upgrading to 12.2.4 in the coming months.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
