Oracle database and client question

Hello,

I am not sure if this is the correct community to ask this question.  If not, let me know.   In the past an Oracle client would connect to a database 1 version behind and 1 version ahead.  For example, an Oracle 10 client would connect to an Oracle 9i database and an Oracle 11g database. I have looked for some documentation, but have not found any.  Would anyone know if an Oracle 11g client would connect to an Oracle 12c database?
