sam-qfs disk archiving best practices
There is an older document floating around written by Tim Whalen which discusses best practices for sam-fs disk archives. The question is, is this document still accurate, especially when it comes to sizing? That document recommends keeping disk archive sizes between 10-20 TB and between 15-30 disk archive filesystems. Given the huge capacities of modern storage systems, this information seems considerably out of date. My system has 900+TB of disk archive capacity, so making 30 filesystems of 20 TB each yields 600 TB. I either need more filesystems or larger disk archives.
Is there anyone who has an updated disk archive best practices? Can anyone explain the rationale behind the limitations recommended by Tim?
