Maintain Summary Accounts

Hello,

1) We know if the Maintain Summary Template program wasn't run individually the posting process automatically maintains summary accounts, the question would be, is this Maintain Summary accounts job a spawn program by GL Posting, or is it an inline process called by GL Posting?

2) If it is an inline job, how can anyone monitor its progress?  Like in case with our customer, where the Maintain Summary Template takes about 48 hours to run, and if it’s called by GL Posting process, how can they monitor it to ensure that the Maintain Summary Accounts job it progressing instead of hanging?
