Number of voting disks Oracle RAC 11.2

Hi,

We have a two node RAC database (11.2) (on windows servers).

Voting disk and OCR are stored on ASM.

Following the ASM best practices we have two diskgroups +DATA and + FRA. We use external redundancy (SAN).

This means that we have 1 voting disk. OCR is multiplexed in +DATA and +FRA.

##  STATE    File Universal Id                File Name Disk group

--  -----    -----------------                --------- ---------

1. ONLINE   2d654e6d87874f09bfaaca70f601674b (\\.\ORCLDISKDATA0) [DATA]

Located 1 voting disk(s).

How I interprete the Oracle documents, this should be fine.

But in most blogs and articles 3 diskgroups are mentioned. One diskgroup with normal redundancy explicitely for the voting disks and OCR.

Howdy, Stranger!
